MACA Campus Initiative
Your career in crime analysis starts here.

The Massachusetts Association of Crime Analysts (MACA) launched a campus outreach initiative in 2026 to connect with criminal justice and criminology students across New England.
The purpose of this initiative is to:
Career Readiness Learn about the tools and software used by analysts everyday. | Expert Insights Hear directly from active analysts about real-world cases. | Networking Connect with public safety professionals all over New England. |
Where have we been?
Merrimack College - February, 2026
Cambridge Police Crime Analysts Rebecca Leonard and Sarah Fronheiser presented to MACA members and Merrimack students. Their presentation was insightful, engaging, and an incredible opportunity for students to learn directly from professionals doing impactful work in the field. We’re grateful to Merrimack College for hosting and supporting collaboration between analysts and students.
Curry College - March, 2026
MACA Board Members Sharon Phelan and Jenna McCarthy had the opportunity to present to Curry College "Foundations" class; a career exploration and development course where students dig into different job and internship paths.
They spoke with students about the field of crime analysis, including how they use data, digital footprints, and analytical techniques to support investigations and identify patterns in criminal activity. It was also a chance to highlight how MACA provides valuable training, networking, and professional development opportunities for those interested in this field.
Roger Williams University - April, 2026
MACA Board Members Jenna McCarthy (Norwood Police) and Sharon Phelan (FBI) presented to students in a Crime Mapping class. Their discussion highlighted the critical role analysts play in strategic, tactical, and administrative functions, and the importance of data-driven decision-making in modern law enforcement. Thank you to our partners for hosting and for the opportunity to continue advancing MACA’s college outreach efforts.
