COVID-19 Update - A message from MACA President, Lt Glen Mills

As you have all probably anticipated, we have been forced to cancel our 2020 Conference in Plymouth Massachusetts for the week of May 11 to 15

Unfortunately, our current state of emergency in Massachusetts due to COVID-19 concerns will probably not be lifted any time soon.

Even if this ban is lifted by the end of April it would leave us in a position of not being able to obtain enough registrations to run the conference. We are anticipating that social distancing measures could go on for several months and that our member agencies overtime and training budgets will likely be drained and re-allocated. Barring a miracle, there was no foreseeable and realistic path for us to move forward in 2020.

We did discuss rescheduling in the fall but this also seems too risky at this time. We will be running our next conference at the same location during the week of May 10 to 14, 2021.

Our plan at this point is that we will be able to run the exact same conference with nearly the exact same schedule that we had planned for this year in 2021. Dr. Laura Huey and Gordon Graham have already committed to coming back next year! I am telling you that you do not want to miss this.

If you have already registered and paid for 2020 we can credit this to next year's conference or issue a refund to you or your agency.

This was a hard decision for the team who has done so much work up to this point but each day that passes shows that we made the right call. We were all very excited to be at a new conference venue in Plymouth during their 400th Anniversary year. We will now have to wait another whole year for our annual dose of MACA goodness.

I am hoping that next years conference will be a big celebration of all of us getting through this.

 Please stay safe and healthy,

 - Glen

About the Conference

The Massachusetts Association of Crime Analysts has hosted an annual training conference for the past 22 years, gathering analysts, officers and command staff from across New England and throughout the country for five days of world class training.  We have subject matter experts teaching breakout sessions, national leaders in policing giving keynote addresses.  This year, we are excited that our conference is moving to a new venue in historic downtown Plymouth, Massachusetts.  We are also thrilled to partner with NESPIN this year, bringing their top notch training and technical assistance to our attendees.
