Our next MACA meeting will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 10am at the Burlington Police Department (45 Center St., Burlington, MA). We will have 2 presentations this month.
Lt. Glen Mills will present on how social media has become a major influence in politics, terrorism, warfare and disaster management throughout all levels of government and private industry. He'll discuss how social media should be an integral part of every organizations continuity and resilience plans. For better or worse, this technology plays a key role before, during and after all types of disasters. This presentation will give an overview of the current threat landscape, review case studies of social medias roles in emergencies and identify free social media tools and various ways that all types of organizations can use in legal and ethical ways to prevent, protect, respond to and recover from disasters. There will also be a discussion of the role social media will play in the future of crisis situations and possible ways to prepare for and mitigate future damage.
In addition, there will also be a presentation by Matt Hinds-Aldrich, formerly of the National Fire Protection Association. He will discuss fire analytics and how public safety analysts in some police departments have started combining their skills to assist fire departments within their towns/cities.
